Outlander, Outlander Sport, Lancer Named IIHS Top Safety Picks
Mitsubishi makes some of the safest cars on the road today, and we here at Carriage Mitsubishi are proud to announce that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has named both the Lancer and Outlander Sport IIHS Top Safety Picks and the Outlander a Top Safety Pick+.
To earn these honors, the Outlander, Outlander Sport, and Lancer all had to hold up to rigorous crash testing. A Top Safety Pick is defined as a vehicle that can earn a score of “acceptable” or “good” in the notorious small overlap front test and scores of “good” in moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints and seats testing.
The 2015 Outlander earned the additional distinction of Top SafetyPick+ by scoring a rating of “advanced” in front crash prevention, earned through the availability of the Forward Collision Mitigation System available in the optional Touring Package and Premium Package.
“Thanks to our advanced high-tech engineering and safety features, the Mitsubishi Lancer, Outlander and Outlander Sport have consistently achieved high IIHS safety ratings,” said Don Swearingen, Executive Vice President of MMNA. “The Mitsubishi RISE safety body construction system is the perfect example of this kind of technology. In the event of an accident, energy is absorbed and deflected away from the occupant cell, which enhances passenger protection.”
Mitsubishi’s 2015 lineup is not only one of the safest on the road today, but it is also one of the most all-around affordable and fun to drive. If you are planning to buy a new car in 2015, make yours a Mitsubishi.
